The facility which is fully funded by the Jinapor family is fitted with auxiliary amenities including a 100-seater spectator’s stand, wired fence, and a washroom.

During the commissioning ceremony, MP John Abdulai Jinapor emphasized that the primary objective behind constructing the Astro Turf is to foster football development in the constituency and identify emerging talents.

Expressing gratitude, he acknowledged the significant contributions of his elder brother, Professor Ahmed Jinapor, and his younger brother, MP for Damongo Constituency and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, towards the realization of the sports facility.
Despite the family involvement, MP Jinapor stressed the importance of depoliticizing the Astro Turf, highlighting that it is a collective family effort dedicated to promoting sports in Buipe and beyond.

Looking ahead, the MP hinted at future plans for the construction of a volleyball court adjacent to the field, illustrating a broader commitment to diverse sports promotion.

The President of the Ghana Football Association for the Northern Region, Alhaji Abu Hassan Rhizo, commended the Jinapor family for their contribution to sports in the Savannah Region through this facility.

Alhaji Rhizo acknowledged the global impact of well-constructed football pitches in showcasing potential talent and appealed to the community to maintain the pitch diligently.

In a forward-looking request, Alhaji Rhizo urged the Jinapor family to consider constructing a dressing room, anticipating the commencement of division one league matches on the field in the near future.

The inauguration ceremony concluded with a ceremonial match between Buipe Scorpions FC and Blue City FC of Busunu in the Damongo constituency, culminating in a 2-1 victory for the home team witnessed by several dignitaries including the Municipal Chief Executive for West Gonja, Musah Karim Kusubari and Central Gonja, Salia Kamara.

The match not only showcased the new Astro Turf but also symbolized the community’s enthusiasm for the promotion of local sports.
