Oyster Agribusiness Awards Farmers in Kintampo Municipality

Kintampo Municipal Department of Agriculture hosted Oyster Agribusiness Farmer’s Awards in a short but colorful durbar to recognize the remarkable achievements of our farmers who played an integral role in customer satisfaction.

Oyster Agribusiness Company Limited started in Ghana and Kintampo Municipality 2018 with the vision of uplifting lives of farmers and communities to bring sustainable agriculture practices to the forefront and to foster a future where every smallholder farmer would thrive.

Their main aim of the project was for local consumption and export but now, Oyster Agribusiness is into the cultivation of Rice, Soya Beans, and Sorghum and in six (6) Regions in the Country, Kintampo Bono East Region being the first and five other Regions in the Northern Sector of Ghana.

Oyster Agribusiness would be introducing, maize farming, Cassava farming with its processing factory, poultry , fish and pig farming very soon.

In a speech read on behalf of the Founder of Oyster Agribusiness Mr. Edmond Kombat “they have seen the impact of that vision manifesting in the lives of over 3000 farmers and still counting and they are not just producers of crops, but the backbone of our nation” he stated.

He added that, the various initiatives of inputs supply of organic fertilizer, improved seeds, agricultural mechanization services, extension services, and access to markets for out farmers’ produce, have strived to empower our farmers with knowledge, resources and support to adapt and mitigate to climate change by embracing smart agricultural and climate friendly farming practice.

In conclusion, he asked all to support farmers in times of need, to champion their Cause, and that, “they work tirelessly towards building a brighter and more sustainable future for all and sow the seeds of progress and prosperity, ensuring a bountiful harvest for generations to come.” He said.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kintampo Municipality, Mr. Isaac Baffoe Ameyaw in his address was very grateful to Oyster Agribusiness for selecting the Municipal as the first district to invest in agribusinesses and having taken their time to come appreciate framers for their outstanding performance.

The MCE complimented the President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for his support in the Agricultural sector in the country at large and that the Kintampo Municipal Assembly will also work hard to partner with them anytime the need arises.

He said all farmers in the Municipality should hold on to Oyster Ghana for their outstanding technologies to support them in cultivating their food crops and that, most of their challenges such as limited access to market, land tenure, financial service, low returns on investment, postharvest losses and high cost inputs etc. would be the thing of the past.

Mr. Simon Yambor, Director for the Department of Agric in his message was very happy to host this very important program at his outfit. He stated Oyster Agribusiness has come to improve the livelihood of most farmers in the Municipality such as giving them income, and ready market to most farmers and other benefits.

He added that “despite its coming for their good some challenges to farmers are cattle destruction on their farms but plans are under way in dealing with it.

He ended by informing farmers to be faithful in patronizing imputes given to them to sustain the good seeds and try to always pay for them.
