   Vulnerability Analysis

Vulnerability Analysis is the process of assessing the ability of an individual or group to withstand shocks or manage risks, the probability of becoming poor or poorer.  This could come as a result of the following factors- political, social, environment, economic, or physical.

The continuous migration of the economic class to Takoradi, Tarkwa and Cote D’voire is a trend which should be curtailed. Also due to the seasonal nature of fishing activities at the coast compel people   to travel to cocoa producing area to engage in economic activities.

The fast growing of the social class system also contribute to the fast migration trend in the District.  Social problems such as child labour, child trafficking, Streetism and disability occur as a result of the absence of care for the children in the district.

The district is endowed with huge potential for tourism development.  There are many places, which could draw tourists into the district if properly developed and packed as attractions.  These include historical sites like the former President Nkrumah’s birth place and original tomb at Nkroful, 70km of sandy beach line and the navigable Ankobra river, wetlands an and the famous Kundum Festival.  The Assembly would facilitate the identification of these potentials and encourage their development through Public Private Partnerships.  This would create employment and generate further revenue for the district.

The birthplace and original tomb of the late first President of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, at Nkroful is regarded as the most important historical site in the District.  The District Assembly would facilitate the Nkroful Tourism Development Project and institute the annual celebration of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s birthday as a national historical event.
