EFFUTU : MP assess damage

Mr. Mike Hammah , Minister of Transport, has appealed to the people of the Effutu constituency to weed their surroundings and desilt chocked gutters to ensure free flow of water to prevent flooding.

Mr. Hammah, who is Member of Parliament for Effutu, said this when he went round to inspect some roads and assess the damages caused by the recent floods in the municipality , especially , from Sankro Junction to Nsuakyere.

The MP, accompanied by Nii Ephriam, Municipal Chief Executive and Mr. Robert Quartey, Municipal Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation.

He assured the people that portions of the road that were destroyed would be rehabilitated in due course to avoid further damage.

He also advised the ministry of roads and highways that culverts and gutters to be constructed in future should be covered to prevent people from throwing refuse into them, thereby preventing water to flow.
