The Ga West municipal assembly has honoured 31 teachers and non teaching staff for their dedication to duty and immense contributions toward promotion of quality education delivery in the district.
For their prizes, they received various items including deep freezers to boost their morale to give of their best in their various fields of endeavour.
Addressing the awards ceremony, Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Ebenezer Nii Armah Tackie, said due to the importance of education to national development, there was the need for teachers to be awarded to serve as a motivative factor.
This, he said, would encourage them to work tirelessly to ensure effective development of the country.
Mr. Nii Tackie observed that as part of its efforts to improve standard of education in the district, the assembly invests about 60 per cent of its budget into the construction and rehabilitation of school infrastructure in the municipality.
Additionally, he said, the assembly had spent about GH¢78,389 to sponsor needy but brilliant students to teacher and nursing training institutions and senior high schools.
