NATIONAL : Movies review board dissolved.
The Minister for Information, John Tia Akologu has dissolved the Cinematograph Board of Control, which is charged with the previewing of all films (moving pictures) and approving their exhibition within Ghana.

NATIONAL : Arrest "Maame Dorkunu".
An Accra Circuit Court on Thursday issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Grace Omaboe (a.k.a Maame Dokono), Proprietress of Peace and Love Orphanage for failing to appear before the court.

WA: Communities in U/W to restore degraded lands
Thirty communities in the Upper West Region which are beneficiaries of the Ghana Environmental Management Project have each embarked on the restoration of 100 hectares of degraded land in their communities.

Subject:A Good Start, But .......Comment: It is reassuring to read that a policy is being developed to encourage the use of local materials in construction. I believe the people living in the Akwapim mountains are well aware of the qualities and longevity of stone buildings. May I remind all those involved in the policy development not to waste resources reinventing the wheel because a great deal of research has already been undertaken by KNUST and BRRI. Dr Atiemo and co over to you.
The government must also show leadership in this and ensure that a healthy quota of housing projects funded with public money uses local construction materials, not forgetting about solar energy.
