Report on municipal finance officer's visit Afeema FM
On 14 th March,2024, the Municipal Finance Officer, Felix Kwakye Quianoo visited Afeema FM to enlighten the public on the importance of Internally Generated Fund(IGF).

The IGF components include property rates, Business Operating Permits (BOP), temporal structures, and the utilization of the funds.

Municipal Finance Officer at Afeema Fm During the session, the Municipal Finance Officer elaborated on the significance of property rates and business operating permits as sources of revenue for the Assembly.

He stated that property rates are levied on properties within the Municipality based on their assessed land value.

These rates contribute to the fundings of essential services such as waste management, road maintenance, and infrastructure development.

Similarly, he continued by saying that Business Operating Permits (BOP) are required for all businesses operating within the Municipality.

The fees collected from these permits play a crucial role in supporting local economic development initiatives for the Municipality.

The Municipal Finance Officer also explained the concept of temporal structures, which he referred to as the temporary or seasonal facilities and structures erected for various purposes within the municipality.

These may include event centers, kiosks, containers and market stalls, or seasonal business.

He explained that, Individuals or businesses intending to construct temporal structures are required to obtain permits from the Municipal Assembly to ensure safety, adherence to regulations, and proper utilization of public spaces.

Furthermore, the Municipal Finance Officer provided insights into the utilization of funds collected through property rates, Business Operating Permits (BOP), and other revenue sources.

The funds, he said, are allocated towards essential Municipal services and projects which were aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents. Some of these are, infrastructure development and environmental sustainability.
