Walewale Floods: Government to fix collapsed bridge under emergency arrangement

A day after the West Mamprusi Municipality was inundated with flood leaving residents helpless, as the major highway from Walewale to Nalerigu cutting off due to the collapse of the bridge; the situation has improved, according to the Municipal Chief Executive, Issahaku Arimeyaw Somo Lucky Basintal.

The MCE said with support from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and National Security Operatives; they were able to move people from the badly affected areas to safe areas.

He was delighted that though people lost some of their properties no lives were lost as a result of the flood.

He said the next intervention is to quickly fix the collapse bridge as a matter of urgency to ensure free flow of traffic.

Meanwhile, NADMO is to assess the extent of damage in due course and intervene with the necessary relief items for the affected people.
