Assembly Member alarmed at non-functional traffic lights in Wa Municipality

Mr. Yayaha Abdul Waliu an Assembly Member elect for Kperisi Electoral Area in Wa Municipality in the Upper West Region has expressed concerns over the insecure situation on their roads in the absence of functional traffic lights for over four months.

In an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, Mr. Yahaya said, he keeps wondering what at all could be the damage level of the Wa Old Traffic that is down for the past 4 months or more now and can’t be fixed and everyone is silent but some police officers of the MTTD have been assigned to the spot to control the traffic.”

He stated that over 200, 000 inhabitants of Wa Municipality are compelled to gamble with their lives on the major roads of Wa after traffic lights in the heart of town have stopped functioning.

He said the affected road safety tools are located on the principal streets including the JJ Rawlings High street and the Dodoo Street in Wa.

Mr. Yahaya Abdul therefore appealed to the authorities to fix the streetlight before any problem occurred.
