Goldline Mining to construct two- km road for three Amansie South communities

Goldline Mining Ghana Limited, a mining company based in the Amansie South District is rehabilitating a two-kilometre road linking three communities in the district to the main Manso-Adubia road.

The communities are Kensere, Wahaso and Aponapong, which have been cut off from the rest of the district due to the breakdown of bridges and the bad nature of the road network.

The rehabilitation work would involve reshaping the road, reconstructing the broken bridges and culverts, and providing bitumen on the road's surface.

Mr. Emmanuel Ababio, Chief Executive Officer of the mining company told newsmen during an inspection of the road that the rehabilitation of the road was to ensure the free movement of goods and services to boost economic activities in the area.

He said good road infrastructure was critical to the development of Ghana since about 95 per cent of goods and services were transported by road.

Roads therefore made a significant contribution to the country’s economic development and growth and brought important social benefits.

Mr. Ababio said upon hearing that the bridges in the area had broken down after the recent rains, the company moved in to build new ones and to construct the roads adjoining the affected communities.

He stressed the need for the country to be steadfast in helping to expand infrastructural projects to enhance development.

He said Goldline Mining Ghana Limited, was undertaking responsible mining and exploration, through environmental and land reclamation, encouraging commercial agriculture and implementing infrastructural development in its catchment areas.

The CEO called on Ghanaians to be responsible and work to protect all natural resources in their communities.

Mr. Clement Opoku Gyamfi, District Chief Executive for Amansie South lauded the mining company for its developmental agenda, adding that the government could not implement all projects at a go.

He called on all stakeholders to be responsible and initiate projects that could help improve infrastructural development in their communities.

Mr. Gyamfi advised the community members to support the work by protecting the materials which were being used in the construction works and also report those who may attempt to steal some of them.

Maame Yaa Pomaa, a resident of Aponapong speaking to the Ghana News Agency, expressed appreciation to the initiators of the road project.

The bad roads in the area, she said, had been a headache for many farmers since they could not connect easily to their customers when they harvested their produce.
