The project, according to him, will help supply potable water to about 50 communities in and around Somanya, when completed and handed over for use.

Speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, the MCE disclosed further that feasibility study had already been done with actual work expected to start soonest.

Touching on funding for the project, the MCE again insisted that the Assembly had already secured funds through the District Development facility (DDF), adding that the Assembly was only awaiting a final contractual agreement with the contractors for work to kick-start.

He was therefore hopeful that work could start in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tetteh revealed that, prior to the start of the small water project; the assembly has also drilled boreholes in about ten communities to help ease the situation.

The beneficiary communities, he added, include Oterkpolu, Nsutapong, Klo-Agogo among others.

He urged the beneficiary communities to advantage of the facilities provided, and also ensure proper maintenance in order to linger its life-span.
