Birim Central receives 102 markets stores.

The people of Akyem Oda have received 102 lockable market stores through $100 Million Ghana Secondary Cities Support Program (GSCSP) in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region.

This project is financed by the World Bank and being undertaken under the Urban Development Grant (UDG) in 25 Municipalities in Ghana.

The construction of the market project includes 102 stores, health post, police post, restaurant, crèche, offices, Lorry Park and stalls for small trades.

The Municipal Chief Executive of the area Madam Victoria Adu said the construction of the modern markets in the 25 Municipalities across the country indicates President Akufo –Addo is working for the development of the people.

She further said this market will improve the livelihood of the people in the municipality and also create job opportunity for those walking ideally.

She urged the residents to show maintenance skills when the projects starts operation fully, for it to last long to serve the required people.

She also disclosed that drainage work is ongoing to curtail flood in the area and also make transport to the market accessible.

The MCE added that following the fast growing population, the Municipality needs market and Lorry Park to fit its standard.
