Second edition of science and maths quiz
The New Juaben North Municipality Education Directorate in collaboration with U.S based Ghanaian Mr. Solomon Kumah have organized the second edition of the science and math quiz amongst Junior High Schools in the municipality at Asokore SDA college of education.

This year’s edition consisted of 33 participating Junior High Schools, who were taken through intensive training by some dedicated coaches.

The municipal chief executive of New Juaben North, Hon. Comfort Asante was invited as the guest speaker of the occasion. In her speech, she mentioned how elated she was to be called upon to join all that were present for the grand finale of the second edition of the science and math quiz for junior high schools.

She then went ahead to commend the Ghana Education Service for organizing the competition and also expressed how impressed she was with the level of patronage and interest in science and technology and technology amongst junior high schools in the municipality.

Madam Comfort Asante continued by saying that, our world today is evolving and revolving around science and technology and for that matter, there is the need for us all to concentrate and invest towards the improvement of the STEM program which has been introduced into schools by the current government. She stipulated that, the president of the country, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his government are encouraging the teaching and learning of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in our schools to help bring forth innovations that will improve our livelihood.

The municipal chief executive, Hon Comfort Asante said, she believes that, the training rendered to the participating schools has given them more exposure and provided an avenue for grooming and preparing the students to be innovative in the near future and possibly, represent their Senior High Schools and also become scientists and technologists for our country. She went on by giving them the assurance that, the assembly pledges its support and cooperation in promoting academic excellence in the municipality.

The Asokore SDA Demonstration Basic A emerged as the winners of the competition and were presented with a cash price of Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 5,000) and a trophy whiles the teachers that trained them were also presented with an amount of thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 1,000) each.

SDA Demonstration came up as the first runner up and were also presented with some money that’s amounts to Three Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 3,000) and a certificate, whiles Akwadum Methodist Basic School were the second runner up and also ended up with a cash price that amounts to Two Thousand Ghana Cedis and a certificate.
