Okaikwei North MCE applauds staff for the success chalked

The Municipal Chief Executive of Okaikwei North, Mr Boye Laryea has praised staff of the Assembly for their dedicated service towards the growth and development of the Assembly.

He stated that the Assembly since its inception in 2018 has seen a study growth and development partly attributable to the meritorious service of the staff. “You are part of the success we have chalked, all of you are part and I commend you for that…” he said at a staff durbar in Accra.

The Okaikwei North MCE indicated “This is how far we have come and the Assembly is gradually growing. Between 2018 and 2020 all the projects you see around were started around that time before COVID Struck.”

Mr. Laryea was however optimistic that the slowness in the progress of the projects due to COVID “will change”. He reiterated his plea to the staff to report to work on time and avoid the lateness.

According to him, staff lateness is hampering the progress of work and urged the new Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mr. Francis Mensah to reverse the trend by taking the necessary action.

He tasked the Government of Ghana staff to take tier employment seriously because there are no jobs. Mr. Mensah who described the occasion as rare said the event serves as an opportunity for the staff to meet management and share their challenges for redress.

He explained that the durbar was also an occasion for staff to meet and interact with the MCE. Earlier, the Deputy Director, Mr. Seidu Salifu took the gathering through among others the Local Government Service and structure, the Assembly structure, the laws that mandates the Assembly to carry out its duties and the Local Government Act.

The durbar also coincided with the introduction of the new MCD and Municipal Finance Officer- Akorfa Adu-Gamadeku to the staff.

The Management of the Assembly answered questions ranging from insanitary conditions from, improper citing of the Fadama AstroTurf which is distracting teaching and learning activities among others.
