Our unity gives us strength to achieve our purpose - DCE admonishes Berekum West Citizens
Under the auspices of the District Chief Executive, Berekum West District Mr. Dominic Oppong celebrated the 66th Independence Day at Jinijini Presbyterian Basic School Park with a colorful parade

The celebration which was under the theme” Our Unity, Our Strength, Our Purpose” saw thousands of people watching attentively with beaming smiles as pupils, students and workers marched.

In a brief opening address, the Chairman and Berekum Dwantuahene, Osabarima Ofori Yeboah dressed in a beautiful Kente apparels expressed gratitude to the Anniversary Planning Committee for their sacrifices and good work which has helped ensure the success of the celebration. 


Nana wished for unity and peaceful coexistence amongst the political parties, chiefs, religious members and citizens in the district. He finally recognized the good work and efforts of the District Chief Executive and the Member of Parliament in bringing development to such a young district.

The celebration was graced with musical interlude, poetry recital and cultural performance as well as a vibrant and patriotic March past by about 660 contingents from 22 schools and some worker groups. 


The Zoomlion contingent was awarded for their stunning marching performance. In the SHS Category of the march past, the St. Augustine’s Senior High School placed first while the Jinijini Senior High School was second.

The Jinijini SDA, the Nasapor Methodist School and the Jinijini R/C were the first, second and third place schools respectively amongst the ten participating schools in the Junior High School Category. 

The most competitive category, the Primary Schools March Past also saw the Jinijini St. Lucy School, Jinijini Methodist and Rhema Educational Complex placed first, second and third respectively. 

The District Chief Executive, Mr. Dominic Oppong in his presidential speech said he was highly honored and privileged to address this important commemorative gathering on behalf of the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The DCE, stated that, Berekum West and Ghana for that matter has come a long way and as a people, we must be proud of ourselves to have with one singular purpose, unity in strength to defend, uphold and cherish the sovereignty, dignity, independence and peace that we all continue to enjoy.


He also called all of the citizens of the district and spoke about the need for unity which gives the district strength to achieve its purpose.
  


In attendance were the, District Police Commander, Superintendent Andrews Okonenge, the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Charles Yaw Asamoah, the District Education Director, Mr. David Owusu Ansah, the Presiding Member of the District Assembly, Nana Anthony Addai, the NPP Constituency Chairman, Mr. Peter Asomah Boampong who doubled as the representative of the Member of Parliament.

Representatives from the Ghana Immigration Service, Chief and Elders from the Berekum and the Jinijini Traditional Council, some representatives and constituency executives of the two major political parties in Ghana, the NPP and the NDC, Assembly Members, Staff of Berekum West District Assembly and the Education Directorate, representatives from the Ghana National Fire Service, the Ambulance Services, the Clergy, Contingents of various Schools, Media, Zoomlion workers and community members of Jinijini.
