A number of health facilities in deplorable states have all been renovated including the Ayirebi health center, Akokuaso, Jaha and Brenase.

The District Chief Executive, Mr. Paul Asamoah speaking to Ghanadistricts.com said even communities that took the initiative through self-help development projects to build community-based health planning and service (CHPS) centres were assisted by the district Assembly in various ways to successfully complete the projects and make them accessible to residents.

Others like Kofi Nimo, Kyia, and Abenase were provided with nurses’ quarters to help accommodate the health workers.

According to him, another major concern in the district’s health delivery system was the fact that all the existing health facilities were health centres and chps compounds.
So there was the need to buid a facility that is higher than the existing one.

It was therefore a major relief to residents in the Akyemansa District following the upgrading of the Brenase Clinic into a polyclinic by the Member of Parliament of the area, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, he said.

“We inherited a district with over 150, 000 population with no medical doctor; and even sometimes getting a physician assistant was a problem, so we needed to upgrade some of the facilities to bring in medical doctors.

So following the upgrade of the Brenase Clinic into a polyclinic, “two medical doctors were posted to the district and we also provided them with accommodation and a car”, he added.

He explained that because the district is huge, the medical doctors moves around the various facilities in the remote communities to help.
