KPANDO: Authorities on high alert over flood situations
Authorities at the Kpando Municipal Assembly are on high. Alert to protect the lives of people living close to the river as two communities have so far been affected by flooding.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Mark Ahiave disclosed that the Assembly is observing continuous monitoring of the situation for quick response when the need be.

He said unlike communities in the lower banks of the Akosombo Dam that are severely affected, the situation in Kpando is minimal even though some house at Kpando Dafor were flooded and subsequently collapsed, the affected individuals have been currently housed in classrooms that are on higher grounds.

At Kpando Torkor, the affected area is the market so lives are safe.

The flooding around Kpando and other communities upstream is due to the spillage from the Bagree Dam.

With the navy already stationed along the river at Kpando Torkor, the Coordinating Director said life-jackets have been supplied to them and those in the community to ensure safe passage for those crossing over and going for fishing.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Chief Executive, Geoffery Kodzo Badasu in the company of the Paramount Chief of the area and NADMO officials visited the two communities to commensurate with the victims.
