Mataheko Assemblywoman organises free breast cancer screening

Madam Dora Osei Boateeng the Assemblywoman for Mataheko electoral area in the Ablekuma Central Municipality in collaboration with the Municipal Health directorate has organized a breast cancer screening for the women in her electoral area.

The free screening exercise created an avenue for hundreds of women drawn from the local communities in the municipality to be screened at Kaneshie station.

Madam Beatrice Badaso, a health officer from the Ablekuma health directorate in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com urged the general public not to hesitate in reporting any abnormality they feel in their breasts to nearby health facilities and also indicated that Breast cancer is most often found in women, but men can get breast cancer too.

She noted that regular examination and early detection were relevant in fighting the disease and further advised women to do self-examination every two weeks after menstruation.
