Ghana Health Service in Ahafo Region holds stakeholders’ forum
The Ghana Health Service through the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP) and with support from partners announces roll out of a series of activities towards the distribution of Long Lasting Insecticides-Treated Bed-Nets to Registered Households across the country.

Dr Atsu Dordor welcomed all participants and briefed the house the purpose of the gathering. He further stated there was the need to bring all stakeholders onboard in order to campaign for the exercise.

He made it known that the exercise is not politicized and that the campaign is for everyone and the gender is to make sure everyone is served with the treated mosquito nets in combating malaria during the distribution period.

Mr Kingsley Atta, Ahafo Regional Disease Control Officer stressed on the details of the Point Mass Distribution (PMD).
He said training will be conducted in three levels namely; Orientation of National trainers (including key Regional Officers), Training of the districts and sub-districts teams at the regional level and the Distribution Point Attendants ( DPAs) at the district levels.

He further explained that the Registration exercise will be done on household bases using the Electronic App ( NetApp) installed on mobile devices in collecting the data. Moreover, Mr Kingsely made it clear that any valid identification card will be required during the Registration period.

Mr Kingsley in his final submission stated emphatically that the registration exercises will last for 5 days starting from 18th to 22nd April 2024, He emphasized. Again the Point Mass Distribution exercise will also last for 5 days including weekends at designated distribution point which starts on the 23rd to 27th May, 2024.

Madam Catherine Dwamena, Regional Promotion Officer also charged the various stakeholders that effective communication processes are required to engage communities and relevant stakeholders.

This is to ensure support acceptance of the PMD Campaign and to provide active support for implementation especially not only as beneficiaries but also as users.

She further addressed that stakeholders are to create awareness about Insecticides Treated Net (ITN) Campaign among community members.

Again participants to ensure that stakeholders such as NGO’s, CSO’s and private sector organizations to support the ITN Campaign.

Madam Catherine finally ended her presentation on the note that stakeholders must encourage community members to continuously sleep under treated nets and properly care for the nets.

In attendance were, Ahafo Regional Health Service Directorate, security, Traditional Council, Ahafo Regional Chief Imam, senior administrative manager, departmental heads amongst others.
