Nana Abena Gyamfua adjudge Ashanti regional best farmer
The department of Agriculture under the Ashanti regional coordinating council together with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has marked the 39th Farmers Day under the theme "delivering smart solutions for sustainable food security and resilience" at the Jubilee park in Kumasi.

The Regional Best Farmer is Nana Abena Gyamfua from Asante Juaben Municipal while the best farmer for the Kumasi Metropolis is the Amanfrom Camp Prison.

 In a welcome address read on behalf of the mayor Mr. Samuel Pyne indicated that efforts are ongoing to address post-harvest losses in various sectors, such as grains, fish, fruits, and vegetables, through targeted training programs.

Also, 700 market women in the metropolis have been trained, rabies campaign and vaccination rolled out and still ongoing in the sub-metros, and 10 poultry cages have been provided to women in poultry farming to house 120 birds each among others.

In all five categories of farmers were honoured

For their awards, they picked up a certificate, 1- Tricycle, Knapsack Sprayer, 1- box of Cutlasses, 2- Wellington Boots, 12 litres of Weedicide and 10- bags of Fertilisers.

Gracing the occasion was the Ashanti regional minister Mr. Simon Osei Mensah, members of the regional and metro Security Council, Assembly members, award winners and heads of various institutions.

The rest were past award winners, Nananom, farmers, agro dealers, colleges of Agric, staff of KMA and others.

The Chairman for the occasion was Akyeamfo Asafo Boakye Agyemang Bonsu II the Asafohene who also doubles as the Otumfour Akwamuhene of the Asante Traditional Council.
