According to the Minister, President Nana Akufo-Addo sent him on behalf of his colleague Minister of Health to observe conditions under which meat are treated before consumption.

In the wake of reports reaching the President that meats are not treated well at the various slaughter house.

The Minister in the company of journalists on Wednesday visited Mallam Atta market with officials from Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and the Ayawaso Central Sub-Metro.

“We shouldn’t buy unwholesome meat to eat as Ghanaians, you see we have a Veterinary doctor with us here, he is in charge of three hundred and thirty-four slaughter houses I am happy we met him here”.

As to what could be done to deal with issues of unwholesome meat, she advised journalists to do follow ups and for Assemblies and Sub-Metro to enforce bye-laws.

“I cannot go round dealing with all issues to do with sanitation, by the time I finish it would be 2025, so the appointed people in charge at the Assemblies should take responsibilities and not to be absent from work”, she lamented.
